About Coach Derek
My name is Derek Wells and I am from Cornelius, North Carolina. I have been playing the beautiful game for as long as I can remember. I played for a variety of different clubs throughout my years until I ultimately found my home at Charlotte Soccer Academy. During high school, I played 3 years of varsity soccer at Hough where we finished as state runner-ups my junior year. I played ECNL at CSA and had great success. Although I had the opportunity to play collegiate soccer, I decided to attend Clemson University and pursue a degree in Financial Management.
I still have a love for the game and stay surrounded by it. I play club soccer at Clemson and still play at a high level. I also coach at elementary schools in Clemson during the school year. I have a passion for the game and never want to grow apart from it and coaching and mentoring local young kids is the best way I can imagine staying involved in the game. I have had lots of different coaches throughout my career and learning from so many perspectives has allowed me to develop a keen eye for detail and technique. Training with me is not about what level you play at or what club you play for, it's about coming out, working hard, and most importantly enjoying yourself. I look forward to coaching the young talent that we have here in the Lake Norman area!

You and a friend! Sign up with a friend or I can find a partner that I think will be a comparable skill level to you to ensure the best experience for both players. If you would like me to find you a partner for a partner session please let me know! (price is per player)
Small Group Training
$20
3 or more players in a group. Designed to create a more competitive atmosphere and give the players a chance to go at each other and test what they have learned in a friendly environment. I can create groups with players of similar skill levels if I think they would be a good match! (price is per player)
